by Wayne R. Catterall (Author)
When the day finally came that hardened criminal Eli Coulden could walk out of prison a free man, his first act was a vow to turn his back on the way of life that led him there in the first place. Unfortunately for him though, it quickly became clear that the time he spent in the cells wasn't enough to shake off his troubled past, and a mysterious note sent to him upon his release threatens to thwart Coulden's new start before it has even begun. Tasked to finish the job he started in order to finally be free of the sins of his past, Coulden is once again forced to deal with a side of him he never wanted to admit existed, a side of him that sent shivers down the spine of anyone who ever crossed his path, a side that he promised to never unleash again. Hot on his trail is the volatile DC Edgen, a police officer who's been waiting in the shadows to finally make sure that Coulden would never again be allowed to repeat what he started all those years ago. Having never met but with their fates almost destined to intertwine, the two men begin a bloody game of cat-and-mouse through the rainy backstreets of Britain. But when the sides of good and evil are blurred and there's no one you can trust, both Coulden and Edgen are forced to admit that they might not be so different after all. A brutal and unforgiving exploration of man's relationship with his inner demons, Wayne Catterall's debut crime novel, Empty Shells, refuses to pull any punches. An epic crime story that spans two bloody events years apart, Empty Shells promises to be one of the most unpredictable and uncompromising thrillers you've read in years.
Author Biography
Wayne R Catterall was born in 1984 in the north west of England. He has lived a colourful life to say the least but at the age of 28 he decided to turn his back on his old life and turn the negative experiences he'd endured throughout his life, into a positive. He was challenged to write a book by a friend, so he took that challenge and within six weeks Empty Shells was written. Having comlpeted his first book, he had discovered a love for writing but vowed to be different. His colloquial style of writing is what sets him apart from a lot of writers, he just tells it how it is, mainly because he has been there. He is a no nonsense writer who has plans for many books to follow. The second book in the Empty Shells series has already been written and there are more books to come. He has a love for art and all things creative and believes that "people should just go for it....no matter what the outcome" It was Britains most respected screenplay writer, Frank Cottrel Boyce after reading Empty Shells as a favour to a friend, who first gave Wayne the confidence in his own abilities despite Wayne leaving school at the age of 14, with no qualifications. Wayne Catterall has already written a book on his life to try and deter the younger 'go for broke' generation from making the same mistakes...entitled 'When the gun smoke has cleared' and is set to be powerful account of his life. In it, he states "it's all for nothing in the end, that lifestyle will take more than it will ever give." Wayne's motto "We can't walk down a muddy path without getting dirt on our shoes, so choose your path carefully!" He now devotes his time to his family and writing and welcomes all to join him in his journey, enjoy his books and looks forward to reading your reviews.
